We’re accepting applications now — click here to read the team requirements and register your 2012 race team!
Re-live the excitement of the 2011 Dragon Boat Races, and see last year’s list of medalists!
As in 2011, two types of boats will be used this year at CDBF: Taiwan style, aka “Flag Catching” boats, and the international standard “Hong Kong” style boats—which are lighter, lower and faster—for competitive racers.

FLAG-CATCHING (FC) DIVISIONS
NOTE: The Adult Flag Catching Division for 2012 is now full. Although the Flag-Catching Division is very popular, the Hong Kong Divisions are also lots of fun, and this year we’ll have teams match up by skill level and experience. You can still register as a Hong Kong team. If you’d like to be placed on a wait-list to be contacted if Flag Catching openings become available, please send an email to race@cdbf.org.
Each team must have a minimum of eight male and eight female paddlers, plus two other paddlers of either sex. You must also have a drummer and flag catcher. A steersman for all races will be provided by CDBF. All races will be 250 meters long.
Here are the Flag-Catching Divisions for 2012:
Mixed FC Division – 18 paddlers, one drummer, one flag catcher. This is an adult division.
Junior Division – 18 paddlers, one drummer, one flag catcher. Composed of paddlers aged 13-to-17 years old. (Note: Any team with over-aged paddlers will be disqualified.)
HONG KONG (HK) STYLE DIVISIONS
Each team must have a minimum of eight male and eight female paddlers, plus four other paddlers of your choosing. You must also have a drummer and a steersman. All teams registered under this division will be placed in a mixed division for time trials. Time Trials will consist of at least one 500-meter race and one 250-meter race. Teams will be placed in their respective division and race distance based on performance in the Time Trials.

You can try it — on Sunday at 11:45 am we’ll have Dragon Boat 101, an introduction where you get basic training and get out on the lake to race. More information will be posted in the next few days, so please check back!

Hi, thanks for your comment! You might try contacting the Philippine American Society of Colorado — they have both an adult and youth team most years.

If there is a Filipino team being put together, I would really like to join and participate.
We are planning to field both a Taiwan and a Hong Kong race team for 2012.
Can a crew member of a Taiwan boat team also compete as a member on a Hong Kong boat team and vice versa?
