Performing Arts

Every year, the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival has featured an increasingly diverse array of cultural entertainment representing the Denver metro area's wide-ranging Asian Pacific Islander communities.

According to the 2000 Census, Colorado's APA community was the second fastest-growing ethnic population in the state in the last decade. And the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival's Performance Stage reflects the diverse cultural traditions that enrich the region.

Over the years, we've showcased the driving sounds of Japanese Taiko drum music and exciting contemporary Indian dance interpretations; a Tibetan flute master jamming with West African drummers; and graceful traditional Vietnamese, Korean and Chinese dances.

But we've also featured contemporary performances by Asian American performers, including singer-songwriter Wendy Woo, a favorite of Denver Mayor Hickenlooper, with her band, and rock and blues artist Dwight Mark.

This year will be no different: Come to the Eighth Annual Colorado Dragon Boat Festival and enjoy a superb mix of traditional and contemporary artists on the Performing Arts Stage.

The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is proud to look to the future strength and talent within our community, not just to the powerful traditions of the past!
