The mission of the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival (CDBF) is to build bridges of awareness, knowledge and understanding between the diverse Asian Pacific American (APA) communities and the general public through cultural education, leadership development, and athletic competition.

The Main Performing Arts Stage showcases authentic traditional and contemporary forms of Asian and Asian American Pacific Islander performing arts from Colorado’s diverse communities to bridge cultures through artistic expression.

CDBF seeks performers to bring excitement to audiences of all backgrounds and the Main Performing Arts Stage is one of the major attractions of the Festival, which draws over 100,000 visitors each year!

If you’d like to step on stage, please complete the application below and upload or email (or send links to) short video/audio recordings of your performance for review by the PA Selection Committee.

Remember to include a brief biography of your group for the emcee script, 300dpi photo (jpg or tiff) for the program book and URL for the website. We want to promote your group as accurately as possible.

NOTE: An audition video, recording and/or website link to a YouTube video, which is preferred, is required so members of the Selection Committee can become familiar with your performance. Hard copies of audition recordings will not be returned unless requested with a returned stamped envelope. Applicants cannot be considered without an audition recording.

Accepted performers will be notified by May 31, 2013. We will email all accepted groups a letter of acceptance including the time and date of your performance and the Technical Specifications (tech spec) information sheet for your audio visual and staging needs. Accepted performers will be required to send a representative to the Mandatory Performing Arts informational meeting in July (date and location TBA).

Accepted performers will be featured in the festival program book and on our web site. Performers will be paid an honorarium of $150 and provided with one (1) timed parking pass to a parking lot onsite. Please note that performances are scheduled in 30-minute time slots so groups should plan on providing 20-25 minutes of programming. Some groups may be asked to perform for 1 hour (45-50 minutes of programming).

Festival Hours:
Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 10am – 7pm (performances end at 6pm)
Sunday, July 2, 2013 from 10am – 5pm

Performers must abide by all Performing Arts stage rules and deadlines.

Performers will have seven (7) days from the date of the notification of acceptance to confirm or decline participation. Thank you for your interest and for celebrating Asian and Asian American Pacific Islander culture!
