Over the years, the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival has made it a priority to feature the best of the local Asian communities on our performing arts stages. That includes not just music and dance of our traditional cultures, but also the music of the Asian American generation: Rock, folk, funk, R&B, blues, punk and a little bit of jazz.
Award winning singer-songwriter Wendy Woo has been a regular on our Main Stage since the early years, and Dwight Mark wrote the rockin’ CDBF theme song, “Dragon Boat,” back in 2006 after performing his mix of rock, blues and folk the first time at the festival.
Also over the years, it’s become clear that there’s a lot of talented Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders making music in the area–so many that, this year, we’ve decided to dedicate an entire stage throughout the weekend to just bands playing various styles.
The Performing Arts Committee screened a couple-dozen submissions and came up with a dynamic program that added a new dimension to CDBF in 2012.
We’re ready to make the Band Stage even better this year for CDBF 2013!
