2018 is the Year of the Dog!
Dogs are recognized zodiac animals throughout Asian culture. They represent loyalty, friendliness, and integrity. They are those whose hard work often go unrecognized, who will stick with you through the worst of situations. Here are all the ways our festival is celebrating all our friends, family, and animals who represent these values, and all the underdogs out there! 2018 Image Contest and Winners Check out all the winning designs that featured the Year of the Dog! 2018 Year of Dog Instagram Contest Dress up your dog in his or her favorite costume and post a photo on Instagram! Use #YearOfDogCDBF @codragonboat and we'll pick a winner for a prize! K9 Police Dog In partnership with the Denver Police Department, we will have a helpful K9 unit on patrol at the festival! Feel free to say hi if you see him, but please do not pet him, as he will be on duty!

Check out the ways that we work to make our festival and planet greener in 2018!
1. Sloan's Lake Park Conservation All festival vehicles are trained to keep off the Sloan's Lake Park grass. There is no staking of any tents, nor swimming of any humans and animals. Help us maintain the health of Sloan's Lake by abiding by these Festival Rules! 2. Festival Recycling Recycling bins will be provided to help sort recyclables from trash! We will also partnering with Eco-Cycle, one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit recyclers, to provide an onsite recycling education program. 3. Food Vendor Recycling Program Food vendors are required to serve food with recyclable paperware and utensils, and to bring supplies in cardboard packaging. Cardboard will be flattened and placed in recycling. 4. Reduction of Plastic Our beverage sponsor Coca-Cola will provide carbonated drinks in cans, rather than plastic bottles. 5. Changing the way we think about transportation The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival promotes walking, biking, or taking the festival's shuttle, which picks up people near one of the light rail stations here in Denver. For bikers, we have a bike corral / parking monitored by one of our non-profit partners. |
