The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is going to gain a reputation as a launch pad for national culinary recognition! Last year, longtime CDBF Filipina food vendor Leah Eveleigh appeared on Food Network's "Cutthroat Kitchen" show and won her episode (she just graduated from culinary school, so congrats for that!). Now, we have TWO Taste of Asia food court vendors being showcased on the Food Network:
Kathy Poland, who won last fall's Dragon Chef fundraiser with dishes she serves up from her food truck, "A Taste of the Philippines," will be competing on "Cutthroat Kitchen" on June 14 at 8 pm! Best of luck to her -- Kathy's already had a pretty good year. She recently celebrated her third anniversary as a popular foodie destination (check her Facebook page for where you can find her), and she also has found a permanent location in addition to her truck -- at 29th and Larimer as one of the anchor providers in a cluster of rotating trucks. Let's tune in and cheer for her o "Cutthroat Kitchen!" Also on the Food Network, Dae Gee, which has served up wonderful Korean BBQ at the festival for the past few years, will be featured on an upcoming episode of chef Guy Fieri's popular "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" series. Fieri filmed at Dae Gee (aptly named, it means "Pig Out" in Korean) in April. Dae Gee's Joseph Kim opened a second location a few months ago to complement his original Westminster restaurant, and he's working on Dae Gee number-three at 4th and Broadway. Congratulations to our food vendors, and we urge visitors to try their great food -- AS SEEN ON TV! -- at CDBF! |
