APDC needs food donations for refugee communities
The APDC is collecting food items donations for refugee clients (especially at their behavioral health clinic) who have been struggling to get by. These clients include people from the Bhutanese and Burmese communities. They have been running out of food for their families and are in HUGE need of food donations. Any items such as rice, oil, ramen noodles, soy sauce, canned fish, canned fruit or vegetables will be extremely helpful for the families. Donations can be dropped off at either APDC office, or, for questions or inquiries, please call either office:

Annual pilgrimage to Amache internment camp
When: Saturday, May 18, 6 & 6:30 am bus pickup
Where: Simpson United Methodist Church at 60th and Wolff Street in Arvada, Colorado, at 6:00 am and the second from the Denver Tri-State Buddhist Temple at 20th and Lawrence Street in Denver, Colorado, at 6:30 am
How Much: $25/person
Join the annual bus pilgrimage to Amache, the Japanese American concentration camp in southeastern Colorado. The bus picks up at Simpson Methodist Church and the Denver Buddhist Temple. A lunch and presentations by the students of the Amache Preservation Society of Granada High School is included in the pilgrimage. Kerala Association of Colorado Annual Indian Dance Festival

Doing Business With Japan: A Tale of Two Cultures
When: May 29, 11 am-1 pm

Japan America Society of Colorado will host this event in Fort Collins on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 11am until 1pm. This lunch program will feature stories, advice and networking opportunities for those in the Northern Colorado area to foster their own relationships in and with Japan. Our featured speaker will be Mr. William R. Farrell. Mr. Farrell served as Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Tokyo during the 1990′s, Chairman of Dynamic Strategies Asia, LC from 1996-2009 and Chairman of the National Association of Japan America Societies from 2003 – 2012. Mr. Farrell, who served 20 years in the United States Air Force as a commissioned officer specializing in counterintelligence and security matters, is currently an adjunct professor at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. A panel of local speakers will introduce their own stories, experiences, and expertise for the audience. This event will be moderated by JASC President, T.R. Reid. Secrets of the Dao De Jing: Daoist Meditation, Healing and Insight

Join us as Kenneth Cohen (Gao Han) introduces the foundational concepts of the Dao De Jing. The Dao De Jing, the 4th Century B.C. classic of Daoist wisdom, meditation, and social justice, is one of the most important and enigmatic texts in world religious literature. No wonder there are more than 250 translations in English! You will learn the hidden meaning of this great classic with noted Daoist Master and scholar, Kenneth Cohen (Gao Han). Mr. Cohen, as a result of his love of Daoism, began studying Chinese language, history and philosophy more than 40 years ago. The Dao De Jing includes specific advice on how to cure the diseases of excess thinking and selfishness, meditate on the breath, link with the forces of nature, and, in the process, transform society. The class will include a discussion of key chapters as well as instruction in Daoist meditation – perfect for beginners and for those looking for new insight. H.
